Trauma-Informed Care
We create a steady, emotionally safe space where your story is met with care and respect.
You can reach out at your own pace—we offer thoughtful, compassionate support for your first step toward healing.
How we work
Each approach is tailored to your pace, with a warm and supportive focus on healing.
We create a steady, emotionally safe space where your story is met with care and respect.
Together we notice unhelpful patterns and build practical tools for calmer, clearer days.
We gently explore deeper emotional patterns so you can understand yourself and move forward.
Our Mission
Opening update: Strength Within Counseling will be opening in mid December. If you’re considering support, you are warmly welcome to reach out now for information.
I help people recognize their strengths, understand the experiences that have shaped them, and build lasting resilience. My goal is to offer a compassionate, collaborative space where you feel supported, respected, and safe as we work together.
Before becoming a counselor, I served in law enforcement, where I witnessed the impact of trauma, chronic stress, and loss. Those experiences inspired my transition into counseling and continue to shape my deep commitment to trauma-informed care.
Populations of interest: I have a special interest in supporting first responders, veterans, and others affected by trauma.
Education and training: I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and obtained my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University–Kingsville.
Clinical experience: I have experience supporting children and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges, along with counseling training in a correctional setting.
My counseling approach integrates psychodynamic principles with cognitive behavioral strategies. Together, we focus on strengthening self-awareness, navigating difficult emotions, and moving toward the values and goals that matter most to you.
I believe seeking support is an expression of strength, and no one should face life’s challenges alone.
Common Questions
Trauma-informed means your pace, boundaries, and sense of safety come first. Sessions are thoughtful and collaborative, with care taken to avoid overwhelm while helping you build steadiness and trust in the process.
CBT is used to help you notice patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, then practice practical tools that support daily relief. The approach stays compassionate and personalized rather than rigid or one-size-fits-all.
Psychodynamic work helps explore deeper emotional patterns and relationship experiences that may still affect you today. This insight can support lasting change, especially when paired with grounded, present-focused care.
The practice supports adults seeking help with trauma, emotional stress, and personal growth. Whether you are new to therapy or returning, care is tailored to where you are now and what feels manageable.
Start by sending a brief inquiry through the contact page. You can share only what feels comfortable, and you will receive a warm, clear response about next steps and fit.
If you're feeling unsure, that's okay—reaching out can be simple, gentle, and at your pace.
